Happiest chooks in Tasmania get new Egg Washer

The "happiest chooks in Tasmania" at Meander Pastured Free Range Eggs, are delighted to have a new egg washer with drying fan to clean their free range eggs.

Operators Danny and Nan Tubb, of Mole Creek, Tasmania, recently purchased the egg washer, an MST Bambino Super Inline egg washer with a capacity of 700-1400 eggs per hour.

Danny and Nan use "chicken caravans", together with a disused bus for their free range layers to perch and to lay. The bus, as well as the caravans, are towed to new locations in their pasture with a tractor as required.

"The health and welfare of our feathered girls is our top priority. From sun up to sun down our chooks are free to roam wherever they choose, having unrestricted access to 145 acres of farm pasture and forested areas. 100% free range with no artificial interference. Stocking density – 150 hens per hectare. The happiest chooks in Tassie!"
